This week has been a busy one for me in my day job. I’ve been working in my job at a university for nine months now, so this week I had my third review which I happily passed – so I think that means I can stay!
Being busy at work and trying to squeeze in my freelance jobs has unfortunately not left quite as much time as I’d like for painting this week, but I have made a start on my latest project. This little coffee table was left behind when we moved into our house this time last year, and is really useful as a place to put my cup of tea/glass of wine/piles of home décor magazines. But that 80s pine just had to go!
I couldn’t decide what colours to go for at first, so I experimented with a few, eventually deciding on a combination of Old White and Coco. I’ve not yet waxed or distressed the table, so I’ll be back soon with a finished pic, but here is the work in progress.
As I’ve been out and about this week, I’ve taken a few snaps of some of the lovely colours being shown off in gardens. I have my favourites, but it’s interesting to see what colour schemes other people go for, and it’s a great way of finding inspiration for my upcycling ideas.
Personally I am not a big yellow person (that sounds a bit strange, but you know what I mean), but this impressive display of yellow and orange wallflowers contrasted with pale pink tulips is impressive nonetheless.
The contrast of the pale and bright flowers in this garden is unusual but interesting. And it smelled amazing!
Personally I am a big fan of pinks, purples, blues and greens as a mix – so I just had to whip my trusty camera out to snap this lovely combo:
The fence that we recently painted in Annie Sloan’s Provence chalk paint looks just as we’d hoped it would, working as a great backdrop for some of the lovely pastel flowers.
Well, I am off to get ready for the weekend now – we are heading down to Cambridge for a couple of days where my other half has been doing some work. Hopefully the sun will be shining over that side of the country as it is a little grey here today! I am particularly looking forward to watching people punting down the river, it’s the best entertainment ever!
Have a great bank holiday weekend!
